Seattle Kraken NHL Daily: Nashville Next, Miller is Out

Kraken Prep

Seattle Kraken practice will be held at 11 am Monday at the Kraken Community Iceplex in preparation for the club’s next game against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena.

Forward Jared McCann missed the last two games against the Minnesota Wild and Pittsburgh Penguins and is day-to-day with a lower body injury. McCann was the club’s leading scorer last season with 50 points in 74 games and has eight points in eleven games thus far this season.

The Kraken will look to extend its four game winning streak. In the meantime …

Let’s Skate !

The Boston Bruins came to a decision on Sunday as to the future of 20-year-old defenseman Mitchell Miller, who the club signed to an entry-level contract last week. They’re cutting him loose. At age-14 Miller was convicted in juvenile court of bullying and abusing a developmentally disabled, African American classmate.

This is a portion of the statement issued by Bruins team president Cam Neely:

“Today the Boston Bruins have decided to part ways with Mitchell Miller, effective immediately.

The decision to sign this young man was made after careful consideration of the facts as we were aware of them: that at 14-years-old he made a poor decision that led to a juvenile conviction. We understood this to be an isolated incident and that he had taken meaningful action to reform and was committed to ongoing personal development. Based on that understanding we offered him a contract.

Based on new information, we believe it is the best decision at this time to rescind the opportunity for Mitchell Miller to represent the Boston Bruins. We hope that he continues to work with professionals and programs to further his education and personal growth.”

Suspensions

The National Hockey League handed out two suspensions over the weekend. Both Matthew Tkachuk of the Florida Panthers and Josh Anderson of the Montreal Canadiens will be sitting out two games.

Tkachuk is experiencing secondary discipline for his high sticking infraction against LA Kings goalie Jonathan Quick on Saturday while Anderson will miss action for his boarding penalty against Alex Pietrangelo of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Here’s the official videos from the NHL Department of Player Safety if you want to check them out.
