Kraken Firebirds lose to Bears

Kraken AHLers: Firebirds Drop Game-4, Final Series Tied

The Kraken AHL farm team Coachella Valley Firebirds lost at home for the first time in the playoffs on Thursday night, dropping a 3-2 decision to the defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears. The best-of-seven final series is tied at two wins a piece.

The Firebirds are now 7-and-1 at home in the postseason, with Game-5 slated for the Acrisure Arena on Saturday night. The series returns to Hershey for Game-6 on Monday evening.

The chippy, defensive battle came down to special teams, with the Bears capitalizing on their sixth and final power play opportunity. After Firebirds defenseman Ryker Evans tied the game at two for Coachella Valley just 32-seconds into the 3rd period, Bears forward Joe Snively untied it for good at 4:21 with his 4th goal of the playoffs. He and his top linemates accounted for all of his club’s scoring in the game.

Kraken top prospect Shane Wright scored the earlier goal for the Firebirds, his second in two games and his fourth of the playoffs.
