The Kraken bounced Bob Woods from their coaching staff on Thursday. The 57-year-old handled defensive responsibilities and ran a penalty kill that finished 21st in the National Hockey League.
Woods has been coaching in professional hockey for close to three decades, roughly half of that in the minor leagues and half as an assistant in the NHL. That followed a 13-year minor league playing career.
His one season with Seattle followed seven seasons as an assistant with the Minnesota Wild.
The move leaves trailblazer Jessica Campbell as the only carry-over assistant coach from Dan Bylsma’s staff.
Campbell is the first female assistant coach in NHL history who also works in player and skill development. She oversaw the 23rd best power play in the league last season.
Video analyst Tim Ohashi remains as well. He’s been here since the franchise started. The Bellevue native helped win a Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals in 2018 as the video coach for head coach Barry Trotz.
The dismissal leaves new head coach Lane Lambert and Kraken GM Jason Botterill with some work to do as it relates to filling out the staff.
