Kraken American Hockey Leaguer Ben Meyers signed a one-year contract extension to stay with the organization at a minimum $775,000. The 26-year-old lefty forward is a key player on the roster in Coachella Valley of the AHL. He had 51 points in 57 games played for the Firebirds.
Meyers participated in eight games with Seattle last season.
He’ll get paid the NHL salary regardless of where he plays in 2025-’26.
“Ben’s a versatile player with NHL experience,” Kraken GM Jason Botterill said in a press statement. “He had a terrific season in Coachella Valley and was a driving force on the Firebirds. We’re excited to bring him back for the upcoming season.”
The former Minnesota Golden Gopher actually played six Stanley Cup playoff games against the Kraken for the Colorado Avalanche in 2023. He averaged a bit under six-minutes a night in a 4th-line role.
Seattle won the match-up in seven games. Meyers played in the deciding match. He didn’t register a point in the series.
In college hockey in 2022, Meyers was Big Ten Player-of-the-Year.
