Kraken, Carson Soucy

Former Kraken Soucy On The Move Again

After leaving Seattle, Carson Soucy’s Canucks tenure lasted twenty months and five days. The free agent signee from the summer of 2023 is packing his bags for Gotham.

Vancouver traded the 30-year-old, 6-foot-5, 210-pounder to the New York Rangers for a 3rd-round selection in the upcoming NHL Draft.

Soucy began his NHL career with the Minnesota Wild before joining the Kraken for two seasons. In 142 games with Seattle, the lefty tallied 13 goals and 24 assists from the blueline. He signed with Vancouver on the first day of free agency, July 1st.

Soucy is finishing out the 2nd year of a three-year pact that sees him making $3.25-million per season. The Canucks didn’t retain any salary.

The acquired pick originally belonged to the San Jose Sharks, so if Vancouver holds on to it, it will come very high, if not at the top, of the 3rd round.

Soucy has just ten points in 59 games this season, although he did score his third goal of the campaign on Wednesday night in the 3-2 victory at home against the Anaheim Ducks.

The blueliner follows the same trade route that centre J.T. Miller took back on January 31st.

Soucy had a goal and an assist in the 2023 postseason for the Kraken.
