Sunday Kraken Update

Seattle didn’t name a captain, yet, if it happens at all, and the final opening day roster comes with no surprises. It’s basically what fans have seen the last couple of games and the media has seen at practices. Josh Mahura returned to the roster as the 7th defenseman after being waived on Saturday. Seattle also waived forward John Hayden on Saturday, leaving them with a 20-man roster at that time and just under $800,000 in salary cap space. No one they might have had an interest in calling up, other than Mahura, would fit under the cap.

So it’s a 21-man roster. 12 forwards, 7 D, and two goalies. Expect Philipp Grubauer to get the start for the 1:30 pm start on Tuesday at Climate Pledge Arena against the St. Louis Blues. Outside of the two Devils vs. Sabres games that took place over the weekend in Prague, Czechia, the Kraken game is the first of the NHL regular season and the first of a televised triple header nationally.
