Wins in the preseason feel nice, but big picture for the Seattle Kraken and the rest of the NHL, they’re meaningless. As Kraken head coach Dan Bylsma has pointed out following his three preseason losses in some way, shape, or form; “we’re competitive, we (I) like to win”, to paraphrase.
But ultimately it doesn’t matter. What does matter is having the team prepared to win when there are two points in the standings on the line each and every night.
Also keep in mind, the line-up changes every night, the rosters of both teams in preseason games are usually chuck full with minor leaguers and/or prospects, and the goaltenders are still whipping into real game condition.
Thus far the Kraken have beaten the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 (in the 3rd preseason game), lost to the Calgary Flames 6-1 (not a good performance at all), lost to those Canucks 3-1, and lost to the Edmonton Oilers 5-4. Monday night they’re playing the Flames in Calgary and on Wednesday Seattle wraps up the preseason with a home game against the Oilers.
One might want to grab a ticket; there’s a decent chance Connor McDavid could dress.
Why not?
The game is underway. Here’s the line-up for Monday night:
Enjoy the action and we’ll see you Wednesday night at Climate Pledge Arena.
