Seattle Kraken, Eeli Tolvanen

Kraken Beat Stars 6-3, Force A Game-7

FINAL: Seattle Kraken 6, Dallas Stars 3

It was feisty, relatively wide open start to this one for the Kraken, as the Stars seemed content to sit back and be opportunistic. Those opportunities were slim, although they did manage to cash in once midway through the period. Their goal came just 31-seconds after the Kraken had opened the scoring.

Seattle owned a 2-1 lead after 20-minutes and out-shot the Stars 16-5.

Kraken Goal Scorers:

1st Period

1-0 Kraken – Even Strength – Yanni Gourde (4) from Eeli Tolvanen and Justin Schultz, 8:59

Gourde, a man possessed in the 1st period, cut hard to the net through the right wing circle and banged home his own rebound.

The Stars tied the game just 31-seconds later when Mason Marchment joined an odd man rush late and found himself wide open with a gaping net in the left circle. He almost shot the puck back into Kraken goalie Philipp Grubauer who was out cutting down the angle on a shot that never came from the right circle. The last second pass allowed for an easy goal that Marchment almost flubbed.

2-1 Kraken – Power Play – Jordan Eberle (5) from Eeli Tolvanen and Jared McCann, 16:46

Eberle shoveled a rebound past sprawled Stars goalie Jake Oettinger near the left post.

2nd Period

3-1 Kraken – Even Strength – Eeli Tolvanen (3) from Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde, 1:34

With the Stars seemingly confused by seeing two trailers, Bjorkstrand just cruised down the slot alone and found Tolvanen perched by the right post to rip one home.

4-1 Kraken – Even Strength – Tye Kartye (3) from Matty Beniers and Vince Dunn, 4:33

Kartye duplicated a goal he scored in Game-2, going high blocker on Oettinger on an odd-man rush from the left wing circle. The goal bounced Oettinger from the game. Scott Wedgewood took over in net.

Dallas would cut into the lead on the power play and it was none other than the tip-magician Joe Pavelski deflecting home his 8th goal of the series at 5:47.

3rd Period

5-2 Kraken – Even Strength – Matty Beniers (3) from Jordan Eberle and Jaden Schwartz, 8:43

Beniers finished off a perfect 2-on-1 rush with a snapper past Wedgewood following a successful Seattle penalty kill.

The Stars waited just 16-seconds to answer. Joel Kiviranta with his first of the playoffs. 5-3 hockey game.

6-3 Kraken – Even Strength (Empty netter) – Jordan Eberle (6) from Alexander Wennberg, 19:02.

Eberle skated into the Dallas zone alone and buried the empty-netter.

Shots on goal ended up 29-23 in favor of Seattle. Power Plays: Dallas 1-for-3, Seattle 1-for-3

Kraken 3 Stars:

1) Eeli Tolvanen – The Finn finished with a goal and two assists and four shots-on-goal.

2) Yanni Gourde – Set the town with the opening goal. Had two points, three shots-on-goal.

3) Philipp Grubauer – The goalie is always a factor in the playoffs. He benefited from a hit post and a crossbar early in the 3rd period, but he also turned aside 20 shots.

Game-7 is Monday night in Dallas, scheduled for a little after 5 pm pacific.
