Seattle Kraken Superlatives – Key Figures

With a big boost from the Seattle Kraken communications department, here’s some of the notes and notables related to recent performances by Washington’s favorite sea monsters.

The 5-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night was a setback, but coming off a five-game win streak, the personal and team-wide performances generally continue to shine.

Seattle Kraken Skaters

Jared McCann added to his team record and career high goal total on Thursday night with his 32nd and 33rd markers of the season. He’s eclipsed both of the milestones he set last year when he tallied 27 goals during the Kraken’s inaugural campaign.

McCann has 16 points over his last 14 games and his shorthanded goal on Thursday night is the third of his career with the Kraken, the club record. The Senators game also featured his tenth multi-point game of the season.

Speaking of multi-point games, Yanni Gourde’s two assists gives him eight of them this season.

Vince Dunn became the first defenseman in the Kraken’s brief history to reach the 50 point mark for a season, reaching that number against Ottawa. He tallied a goal and an assist in the match, the sixth time he’s done that this season. He now owns an eight-game point streak.

Forward Daniel Sprong, like Dunn, is a point-a-game man against the Senators. Dunn has nine points in his last nine head-to-head vs. Ottawa while ‘Spronger’ has four in his last four.

Seattle Kraken

A bright spot lately, including Thursday night when the penalty kill went 4-for-4 against the Senators, has been the Kraken PK, successfully handling 30 of the last 31 opposing power plays.

With the recent run the Seattle Kraken PK now ranks 25th in the NHL at 75.1%. That’s creeping towards overall statistical respectability.

The power play only saw one opportunity on Thursday night and ranks 21st in the league.

With a win at home tonight against the Anaheim Ducks, the Calgary Flames would move to within two points of the 2nd wild card spot in the Western Conference, presently occupied by the Winnipeg Jets, and to within 7 points of the Seattle Kraken who sit in third place in the Pacific Division.

Seattle hosts the Dallas Stars on Saturday night and again on Monday night.
